Knowing Christ

I think the most important decision we make in life is whether or not we believe Christ is who He claimed to be. Choosing to believe in Him is a choice of the heart, then the intellect. I am continually renewed in mind and spirit through the knowledge of Him.

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. " John 17:3

"But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." John 20:31

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." Acts 2:36

My prayer is that you will sincerely seek the Truth.
May God soften your hearts, and help you to see the simplest truth is the deepest reality.

According to the bible, you as a female, are not seen fit to teach about God or Jesus.

What are your thoughts regarding women in the ministry?

Dar,

Thanks for your comment. Christ enables us all as instructors. Women are fit to teach about God and Christ; no where in the bible does it say otherwise. The issue is only when they should instruct, not whether they are capable or not.

Paul states that he would not "suffer a woman to teach in the church." I believe this is one of the most misinterpreted verses in the bible.

God has created an order in the Church and in the home. Men and women are created equal and different. But our differences are beautiful, and enable a healthy balance. The man is the head of the household, meaning he is responsible for his family. If his wife is the pastor of a church, it would undermine his role in the family.

I disagree with churches that have female head pastors, it is clearly unbiblical. However, I believe women play a large role in ministry. Being a leader is not the only way to teach and instruct people in Christ.

I hope this has been helpful. May I ask a somewhat unrelated question? Who is Jesus Christ in your opinion?

Thanks,

Tichius

Only because you asked my opinion:

Jesus of Nazareth to me was a Humanist. He was someone searching for answers and seeking political change. He was rebellious against the government leaders and politics of his time, as he saw ways that were errant in the system and wanted to fight against it. He needed people on his side to do that. He was an enthusiastic, passionate motivational speaker, therefore was able to gain a following of anarchists. Jesus was executed in front of everyone, and therefore died a martyr for his cause. He was made an example of, which enraged the masses more than it scared them.

I beleive his story is one of strength, perserverance, and overall humanitarian. Did he do something noble? Yes! Was he the son of god? I don't believe it. Did he perform miracles? I don't believe that either. I beleive the story was told so long after his death that much too much was embellished.

There are many people like Jesus today, though if they claim to be the son of god as he did, we'd call him crazy.

Dar,

Thanks for your opinion. Actually, many people in his time period did not believe him either. He says that he has not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. The key is to ask yourself if you need salvation.

Only those who believe they need it will find it. Christ also says that those who are focused on physical things cannot discern the things of the spirit. Only those who have born of the spirit can comprehend the things of the spirit. This is why Christ says to Nicodemus, marvel not that you must be born again.

Let me ask you a final question, doesn't make sense, that the most important decision in life would be met with disregard?

i agree that it is an important decision to believe who christ is. But i think there is a much more important one: do we 'love' Christ or not?

Anyone can believe Christ exists. It could be argued intellectually and even believed in the heart.

But Christ didn't wan't disciples who would just believe who he was; he wanted disciples that would love him (Matt 25:12) so much that they would even endure death if it was the result of them believing in him.

God didn't send his only son because he 'believed' we needed it, but because he loved us so much (John 3:16). God is a god of love (1 John 4:16).

But I can tell from your other posts that perhaps you believe (excuse the pun) this too.
